Addiction vs Habituation
There is lots of controversy over this, but I tend to think that actual "addiction" is identifiable by a physical need, that if interrupted will cause physical withdrawal symptoms.
Whereas, "Habituation" is a serious and very real psychological need to reengage in the habitual activity.
Both forms cause physical and psychological withdrawl pain, yet both are distinct in their manifestation.
I think its helpful for each of the groups to identify what their recovery paths may entail. Physical addiction withdrawl may be more dramatic physically yet psychological addiction withdrawl may be more tortuous mentally. I say that with a grain of salt, as physical withdrawls may be psychologically much more severe than withdrawls of those who are withdrawing from non-chemical substances. Yet withdrawl from physically addictive substances can likewise be less severe than for those withdrawing from non-chemical withdrawls.
EVERYONE is unique and unpredictable.

Wow, this is a really interesting viewpoint. I had not heard the term habituation in terms of this, but I think this is very intriguing thinking. Thanks for sharing :)
