Ive been acting okay with my sisters addiction for a while now to be strong. I will always love her but she will never be my sister again. For 5 years now shes been in and out of jail, rehab and so on. Shes hooked on both meth and heroine. I know to not fully give up hope. But I dont see the situation getting any better. My only way to keep track of her is googling her and seeing when shes in / released from jail... it hurts.

@greenYard504 Hi Yard, welcome to the community. We are glad to have you here with us. I can't begin to imagine what it is like for you. You make a good point: addiction changes people drastically. Given that you've been dealing with the crisis for years now, it's okay to realize that things may not change. How do you cope?

If you ever need to talk with someone, feel free to reach out to the listeners here. I really appreciate you reaching out, and if you have any questions or concerns, do let us know. Best wishes, and feel free to let us know on how you are doing, how your sister is, etc. *hugs if you are okay with it* :)

@lovelyWhisper66 Thanks for reaching out. My coping method is to just pretend it doesn't exist, which is part of my problem I am open to better and healthier coping suggestions if you have them? I will try to keep updated on how she is doing, although we are only in contact when she needs money unfortunetly.

@greenYard504 My pleasure, and I really appreciate you opening up to us; it takes great courage. Denial is definitely a common coping habit, and I'm glad you realize the need for healthier coping strategies. Well, you have great self awareness of the situation which really helps. It definitely helps to open up and talk things out, whether it is on here and/or with someone you know.
