Sex as a coping mechanism

Hello,

I'm thirty and it's been ten years since I had an almost fatal road accident. Head injury with severe fractures. I've had multiple facial surgeries. I don't drink or smoke or do drugs. But everytime I felt low I used to see porn and mastrubate for distraction. For a while I did have a partner but we are not together anymore. I tried to keep the mastrubation in check but sometimes I used to overdo it. I realised I have a high sex drive. I tried to do other things like learn music, exercise and other stuff. But is it ok that I used sex as a coping mechanism?

Hello, may I ask if you have any religious beliefs against masturbation? Is your compulsive masturbation affecting your daily life and functioning?

I was in your position before, and for me, I tried to identify underlying stress triggers that led me to masturbate. Once I identified them, I managed to remove them. For me, I had to remove one person from my life that was giving me a lot of stress and emotionally abusing me. Since then, my addiction has been reduced significantly. So, my advice is maybe you can try to identify what causes you to masturbate? Is it just a high sex drive, or is there some power imbalance in your life that you feel powerless to control?

I hope it helps.

I have also struggled with porn addiction and masturbation.

I realised this recently and thought that I would share. Whenever I feel down I will feel the urge to jerk off but after doing that it actually made me more depressed. Like I feel super drained and it did not help I guess maybe thats one of the reasons why I might have fell into a greater depression because of constant mastubation. I am being more conscious about feeling down and masturbating. Yes try to keep those porn away. It doesnt help with the situation

I have religious restrictions that prevent me to be free to mastrubate as I am unmariried. I am to find my sufficiency in God and not find comfort anywhere but in Him. I just turned 50 and my body seems to be increasing in sex drive rather than retiring... I don't know how to deal with the physical urges let alone the emotional ones that accompany the act. I don't feel satisfied after, I rarely feel much pleasure during it. I don't even know why I'm addicted, I get very little reward and a whole lot of heartach. It's so empty, yet time and again I am compelled to imbibe and I don't even know why. So. Very. Frustrating.

I am a gay man. I am in love with my bi friend. He knows this, and is refusing to commit to anything else except being a friend, altough we have been friends for 5 years. He says he does not want any emotianal attachments. He has always treated me in a rather cold and distant manner - which he claims is as a result of trust issues he suffered in the past. He has never checked up on me to see if I am okay. He only answers when I contact him first - and then he takes his sweet time. He never visits me, but is constantly visiting his other friends. He seldom invites me over to his place, and refuse to accept invitations from me, for him to visit me at my place. This has always been the case, since the time we met - and long before I admitted that I have feelings for him. He makes me feel neglected, unimportant, rejected. I feel as if I am a burden to him, although I have paid for everything , every single time we went out. I am disappointed and lonely. Help me please. I need to move on. I do not. Seem to be able to. I amwill lose my best friend and I will also lose my only friend. I have never loved anyone as much.

Let him go. Hes using you and you're allowing him to. I've been there. He's not worth your love. You are too good of a person and trust me, you deserve so much better than what he's giving you. I hope I don't sound like a mom. But you know in your heart that this person isn't treating you the way they should. Why keep draining yourself and miss a new opportunity for an amazing love? Take REALLY good care of YOU now. It's not your fault. You didn't know he was like this. Part of living is learning to let ppl go so new ones come in. When you find your new love, you'll see it. Trust in yourself and your emotions. You know what you need and want. You're not alone. Reach out if you need to chat. Anytime
