Balancing school and meds

How do you balance school and ADHD meds when they mess with your appetite and focus? I’ve been struggling with ADHD medications for a long time, and I’ve never been on one that I actually liked. My old medication gave me daily headaches, made me withdrawn, and triggered urges to pick at my skin, but it felt “normal” because I’d been on it so long. My new medication lets me feel more like myself, but after increasing the dose, it’s making me hate school and my life even more. I feel stuck between wanting to do well in school and wanting to feel normal. I’m stressed, my parents are grounding me and forcing tutoring, and I just want my life back. I’ve tried many medications and dose adjustments, but none have ever helped me feel like a regular kid, and this constant trial and error is exhausting. I just want to feel like myself and live my life without feeling miserable all the time

I'm really sorry you are feeling this way and the medication, while helping also hinders.

I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to navigate things.

The tutoring might just help to take some pressure off, and give you a less pressurised environment to get your work done at your own pace 💜💕

I'm genuinely wishing you the best.

After seeing multiple experts, and 20 years of misdiagnosis with general anxiety, I was finally diagnosed with ADHD. With treatment it has been life changing and I am genuinely starting to feel happy. Make sure you are seeing a specialist. You deserve to be happy! Wishing you God’s blessings and good luck managing this difficult disorder.
