hi everyone, i'm new here. i created this thread as a safe space for sharing thoughts about adhd-related struggles and emotional growth. feel free to ask questions, give suggestions and start discussions.

i really hope i will be able to stay active here, but honestly could be just another thing i'll hyperfixate on and then get bored of after two days :')

sending love to anyone reading this

a thing i learned in the past days as a quick start:

if you tell yourself to do your best, you have to remember that your best is going to look different every day.

could seem a foregone affirmation, but it really did open my eyes. i tend to put so much pressure on myself it hurts, almost physically, and realising that my needs and capacities aren't supposed to be the same everyday it's truly healing.

Hi @clementinekruczynski. Thanks for sharing! I love the thread! I also have ADHD among other things. I feel it is important to remember that each day looks different too. Not every day is the same mood or situation and that's ok!

Hello Clementine, love the thread! 🤍 I live with ADHD, so yes I get what you meant with hyper-fixated for a couple days and get bored.

The good news is, with strategies that fit you best, it is possible to be consistent even with ADHD.

And you're right, your best may look different everyday, but again, who has the same everyday? 😀 All the best!

ep. 2: "positive disintegration"

"developmental psychologist Jean Piaget (1963) observed that in order for people to learn anything new, their old mental pattern must break up and rework itself around the new, incoming knowledge. this process of internal accommodation is key to continuing intellectual development. likewise, polish psychiatrist Kazimierz Dabrowski (1972) theorised that emotional distress is potentially a sign of growth, not necessarily illness. he saw psychological symptoms as coming from a freshly activated urge to grow and coined the term "positive disintegration" to describe times when people break down inside in order to reorganize into more emotionally complex beings."

i am not in pieces, i am simply evolving. and i haven't met all of me yet. what a lovely and terrifying thought, all at the same time.
