Adhd diagnosis
Hi guys I don’t want label myself as having adhd as I am still waiting to get diagnosed but I have had a strong gut feeling for a good year now, I just wanted to share how overwhelming it is to not know why you are different. I’ve had situations where I feel so dumb because I can’t comprehend peoples instructions, I can’t speak without stuttering, I have rejection sensitivity, I zone out, I can’t stay focused in class at all to the point I get overwhelmed and need to
Leave the room, forgetting my thoughts so easily, and getting fired all the time for not knowing things because I am a slow learner
@ari31 Hi ARi, first, I hope you are okay. Take a deep breath and say this with conviction 'I am okay, I will be okay'.
The second thing - I am sorry you had to go through all that, it sounds lonely, tiring and confusing. You are not dumb because you have picked up a few signs that will help you be on the right track of recovery. You are much smarter than you think.
Last but not least, have you tried going down to a local clinic/hospital to explain everything to a professional so that they may guide you? Incase you have ADHD or anything else, its manageable with professional help you can live a beautiful life feeling less confused.
Just know, with or without help, you are fine. It take a while for people around us to give us the support we need sometimes. Sending lots of love, hopefully everything will work out.
I have to wait to get one but I am planning to, I just feel like once I get my diagnosis everything will click
@ari31 don't let a condition define your life. It does significantly affect your life but it shouldn't define it. You are more than the ADHD condition.
I can relate to all of that! When I got my diagnosis, I told myself, "I can only get better." I believe the same thing for you. You are not dumb, you process information differently. I have to remind myself of that often. I hope you find all the support and strategies you need.
I am so glad Someone understands you know that feeling when you just know? And I be telling myself ima do this, ima journal and don’t even though I need to take notes for work. It’s just not something exciting to do, idk all I know is that my mind feels foggy like not fully understanding things and forgetting aftee ome second to do something or forgetting how something happened then some people think I’m lying to them but I genuinely don’t keep track I js feel zoned out
Yes! I totally understand! And I just now found your reply LOL
How are you doing? Have you found any strategies for understanding and remembering? I let people in my life know that I need information in bite-sized pieces, and I let them know that I may forget what they say and that I would appreciate reminders. You can ask for important information in writing, or to have it texted to you. This is something I'm still figuring out, btw. I forget important conversations, and I don't take notes in the moment.
I do, however, like to use an app on my phone called Trello. I watched some tutorials on how to use it like a planner, and I find it easy and fun to use. It's highly customizable so you can make it pretty and easily move things around. You can put reminders in there, too, so it can give you notifications when a task is almost due.
