Afraid of diagnosis

I'm starting to think I have ADHD. In the past four days I've spent my time doing all the screening tests I could and they've all consistently said I should get checked out.

I'm scared that my condition is not actually real and I'm just lying to myself, but I'm also scared that I do in fact have ADHD and what that might mean.

Screening tests for so  many things Often point to go get checked out.... not surprising i have done these and answered differently each time same results

what would a real diagnosis change?  good or bad ... maybe relief to why some things were difficult etc... allows you to try tips and such to learn to work with the condition.... as with i would say ALL mental health items there is a huge scale of barely to full onset of a condition.... with widening criteria it is almost impossible to find someone who does not have a bit of it....

I read a study that only about 8% of things we worry about and what if thoughts about ever happen ... the odds are in your favor.

Hi! It sounds like you're going through (or hopefully went through) the same thing im dealing with right now. I see that you posted this 2 years ago so I hope that everything went well! I get what youre saying, especially cause I know im worried about wasting a lot of time and money to go get an adhd screening woth a professional. It feels like it will be all for nothing if I end up not being diagnosed with ADHD. But at least I wouldn't have to worry about the unknow anymore if i got a screening?

Still, Im worried about what it would mean. Getting diagnosed would mean my suspicions were right and I can plan going forward with new knowledge. Id probably be a little frustrated that I wasnt diagnosed earlier though. However if I am not diagnosed it might feel like, "well whats wrong with me then?" And thats the scariest part of it (not saying adhd means theres somthing "wrong" with a person. I just feel that way about myself right now because of how im struggling... i need better self esteem, i know)

I think in the end- just sitting and not knowing is probably worse than moving forward and doing somthing about it. Its difficult and scary but probably for the best? I just wish there wasn't money riding on it.
