I have ADHD and I want to completely stop wearing people out with my stupid obsessions.
I hate myself for being myself. I hate obsessing over things that I love with other people because 99% of the time, they don't even care. They don't care about my dumb interests. They don't care about anything that makes me smile. They don't care if I'm even still around. Hell, I can disappear off the face of the planet and my friends wouldn't even care, or they would be dancing on my grave. I know my friends only smile with me just so I can shut up. I know for a fact that they could literally care less about what I have to say about anything that I'm remotely into.
I wish I can stop wearing people out with my awful, awful obsessions. I want to learn how to be naturally silent about myself. I mean, I already keep everyone at arm's length because I know no one wants to deal with me having ADHD and obsessing over shitty shows or videogames or anything. I just want to learn how to stop burning people out. I want to learn how to stop talking about myself unless it's online where they probably don't know where I'm at.
I made my Instagram and Twitter page private and deleted my Facebook completely so people can stop seeing me repost the same crap over and over again. I don't know. I just feel like I'm nothing but annoying to others.
@ElectricDonut That's not true! Don't ever think you're annoying for doing what you love, for getting really into the things you enjoy! I know exactly how it feels to have social anxiety, and I often feel like a burden to my friends as well, like maybe they're only talking to me to be polite. But I know and you know it's not true. Hey, even if they aren't on board with your passions, what does it matter to you? You do you, and live life carefree. Just let it go and remember: There are others just like you who feel insecure and who obsess over shows and music, and we love you. We get it. I get it. I've been a sci-fi nerd my whole life, to the point I can recite the script of most any Doctor Who episode. I'm crazy about music, literally spending all day searching bands and watching their YouTube videos. That's silly to some people, a waste of time they think. But you know what? It's my time and I can choose to use it how I like! So go ahead and have fun, post your fave quotes and pictures online, do what you love! Who cares if certain people don't get it? They'll learn to understand it, or they won't. Either way, it's not your problem. You go for it, just let yourself free and do what you want. It's your life and it's your chance to make it a good one! (;
@ElectricDonut Also, if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you babey! (;
@ElectricDonut
I feel the same. I never really could articulate why I don't like to talk much about what I like until I start rambling. I feel like the most annoying person on earth.
@plumRaspberries7829 Don't feel that way! ADHD can be a gift if you let it. Don't be ashamed of your enthusiasm and passion, embrace it. That's what makes you special. Be compassionate to yourself. You are an amazing and interesting person so don't push that away, let yourself be yourself.
@ElectricDonut
OMIGOD I DO THIS TOO! what are your intrestests? Maybe we have some in common to obsess about together! :D
I have ADHD too. I know how that feels. I have since stopped sharing as much as Id like to about the stuff I like. Even still, I feel like Im annoying, not even because of that, but because Im such a mess, and even if you dont have to listen to me drone on and on about my favourite shows and stupid youtube videos... If I dont weigh someone down with my passions, I probably weigh them down with my struggles.
so I get it. but sometimes, youll find someone whos into the same thing! Its such a miraculous feeling when you find out someone else is into the same thing, and two sided conversations about something you love are amazing.
I also know how it feels to completely obsess about stuff. The biggest thing Ive ever gotten obsessed with was the movie Big Hero 6. Ive seen it 77 times and can pretty much recite it by heart. The obsession was on and off, but the longest its lasted was a year. Im into a lot of other stuff, too. Its still been a while since Ive really done any of it, because fkin depression has gotten in the way, but I still like to talk about it. I feel like talking about stuff Im into is a bettering distraction than the thing itself sometimes.
If it helps, I love passionate conversations. My ex-best friend was into wrestling, and you wouldnt call me a wrestling fan, but whenever she talked about it, Id get so excited. Talking about stuff that someone has a deep interest in is fun.
so to conclude this, tell me about your interests! Im genuinely interested and Id love to hear about them. Trust me, if I didnt care, Id just leave and pretend I never saw this. Seriously, if I had ignored this post, no one would know, so I have no reason not to. I would love to hear about what interests you, and Im not just being polite. I will be your obsession dump and I absorb it all willingly!! Go ahead!
@Jisola
OH MY GOSH! I WAS OBSESSED WITH BIG HERO 6 FOR THE LONGEST TIME TOO!🤯
@tinycactus809
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
its so sadly underrated, isnt it?
i closet cosplayed Hiro to school constantly, then I went as him for Halloween. I looked surprisingly EXACTLY like him, so much it surprised me. I have a Baymax plushie. I know GoGos real name. I created a FAN CHARACTER.
im so happy im not the only one who appreciates this movie for the greatness it is, it is still my favourite movie and the fact that there is no sequel is frankly unacceptable
this comment has proven you to be an epic person and I would like to be your friend.
OMIGOSH OMIGOSH OMIGOSH!!!!!!! I'm pretty sure I drew fanart at some point, I'll have to look for it now! I would listen to "immortals" on a loop for weeks on end. I also wanted a big chubby hairbaby just like Mochi. I wanted soooooooo badly to be like Gogo (I believe her real name is Ethel Tomago, correct me if I'm wrong) that I wanted to cut my hair and dye it like hers (Mom said no 😥)and I'd constantly go around telling my friends to "woman up!" when they complained about stuff 😂. I would definetly consider us friends at this point! 😁😁
@tinycactus809
this is the confirmation point of our friendship.
Yes, her name is Ethel, it surprised me a little since it
@Jisola
OMG THAT IS SO AWESOME! I've made a little goal for myself to grow my hair out until senior year and then I'm going to cut it REALLY SHORT (hopefully I can get My mom on board this time around) If not, I'll wait until college and do it then because no one would be able to stop me! EVEN IF THEY HAD MICROBOTS!
@tinycactus809
how long is your hair now? And what year are you in (if you dont mind sharing, you dont have to!)
mines down to my armpits, and im a freshman in high school. I said I would grow it to my butt, then cut it real short. dont how long ill have long hair, now, though. Also contemplating dyeing it, still not sure what colour. Might keep it brown, then add aqua and purple highlights on my bangs, that was the hair colour of my fan character Starflash, except she had REALLY long hair and Im not sure I even want that anymore.
Gogo was the best role model for sure. We need more characters like her.
I used to have a friend who would always joke about Tadashis death. It started with me telling her about a Gordon Ramsay meme where he said this chicken is so burnt, Hiro Hamada thought it was his brother! and she agreed, and then came the countless Tadashi jokes and the time she slept over, stayed up for the first 20 minutes (surprisingly) just so she could get to the fire scene, and roll on the floor laughing.
if she were a character, shed have had something to do with the fire.
@Jisola
My hair goes a little bit past my armpits. I'm in my sophmore year in highschool.
Starflash sounds SUPER AWESOME! and purple and aqua highlights sound amazing!!!! I would love to dye my hair a fun color like that!!!!
Gogo is such an amazing role model! She's incredibly tough and sarcastic, but she's still compassionate about her friends. She talks about Women empowerment all the time ("WOMAN UP!") She and Honey Lemon are so so soooo important as its hard to find depictions of women in STEM fields.
Your friend sounds like a super fun person to talk to! 😂😂
@ElectricDonut most likely if they do feel like that they aren't your friends. your interest's are not stupid. if you can have meds it could help, but adhd can make it hard to get and keep friends. you sound like you could use a friend and a hug. try to know when to stop talking and when to talk. I don't have so many adhd problems that I have friend problems. I have a good quality of friends and am happy with them.
