I’m so confused

So for the past few years I’ve been told I have adhd. But recently I took an evaluation to figure out what’s going on with me in general, and apparently I don’t have adhd, which doesn’t make sense to me. I just don’t know anymore, and I don’t want to unjoin this community or whatever, I just don’t know why I’m so upset over not having adhd. Scratch that, I know why. Because everything I thought about myself and my mental health isn’t true, and I don’t know what to do with that.

As confusing as it may be at the start, when we are struggling with our mental health, a diagnosis can give us a baseline to try and help ourselves more and understand ourselves and find the supports we need. ADHD and other mental health diagnoses are very similar, and present the same so it's important to take that in and talk to a professional, before making any further decisions, I genuinely wish you the best and hope that you get the answers and support that you need 💜🥰

Definitions and labels change all the time. If I were you, I’d List the issues/ symptoms you feel and then work on strategies to fix or help them. Just thinking aloud.

It makes complete sense that you’re feeling confused and upset — it’s not just about a diagnosis, it’s about your identity, the way you've come to understand yourself, and the lens through which you've made sense of your struggles. Being told for years that you have ADHD, and then suddenly being told you don't, can shake your sense of reality. It can feel like your experiences are being invalidated, or like you’ve lost the language that once helped you survive and connect with.
