Menopause, Limerence and ADHD
Hi friends,
I was only DX with ADHD about 3 years ago but looking back it made a lot of sense.
I'm in my 40s and navigating menopause. I've struggling through an episode of Limerence and it's frustrating me and making really sad and angry - at the world, my circumstances, myself.
But when I think about going to therapy for it I get nervous about losing the feeling of love I have for my "source of limerence".
We could never be together, I know this logically, but my heart and my head still yearn for him and I guess I kind of like that feeling.
I don't know what I'm looking for here. Comradery maybe??

You are not alone in that. I think many find themselves in a limerence type of situation. I feel it has exploded with people chatting online or long distance. many may even call it emotional cheating if a person is in a relationship.
It does feel good to feel that someone cares about you and sometimes the "what if" feeling sometimes just helps IMO.
It can make us sad or angry about our life. we may wonder if we could have done things differently. It seems so easy like why we can't talk or have that connection with people in our own lives.
I had a limerence relationship. I knew from start we would not be together, but when I was/ still am ignored by those who used to fil, that void i saw no harm in continuing the limerence thing.
The time spent with my limerence partner made me feel good and alive even if only briefly ......It was worth it.
