Please help (bit long sorry)

I have adhd. I get distracted extremely easy. (I don’t take any medication. I tried a bunch and none of them worked. The ones that doctors suggest now aren’t available.)

I end up using my phone a lot in class/when I’m supposed to be doing homework. It’s just that I rather do anything else than do what I’m supposed to (unless it’s related to art or something else I like.) Or I’m just really confused and I don’t know what to do (like getting stuck on a question).

Sometimes I get distracted without my phone and I just stare into space/daydream/wander/doodle for EXCESSIVE amounts of time.

I feel like a terrible person. my mom keeps getting messages from my teachers about using my phone in class.(Also I NEVER complete my work on time). She’s really mad at me. I feel like she hates me. She couldn’t look at me at dinner today.

I tried one of those apps for blocking other apps it didn’t work for me. Also tried using a flip phone - it just made things worse.

I genuinely hate myself for this. I don’t know what to do. This all could be related to the fact that I don’t get enough sleep. I don’t know how to fix that problem either.

Sorry this weirdly written. I would appreciate any advice or support.

@BlankPageAndAThousandWords

Hi, I also struggle tons with adhd and focus especially since ptsd can also effect focus. This may not be helpful for you so I’m sorry if it’s not it’s just a list of things I’ve tried that can work sometimes.

Number one you need to forgive yourself and recognize it’s not your fault you can’t focus.

number two I suggest trying to do both things like if possible try using your phone and doing work, sometimes it’s better sometimes it’s worse.

number three maybe it would help if you took a break to do what you want, sometimes letting ourselves do things on our own time and schedule makes it less stressful. So don’t sweat it and just wait until it feels bearable.

number four as mentioned before trauma and ptsd can also cause focus issues, any sort of current or past abuse can cause your brain to be foggy. You can always examine your current and past experiences and if you notice any abuse healing can help you focus better.

I hope this could at least sorta help, Im really sorry you’re struggling have an amazing day/night and take care of yourself I know it’s easy to forget :)
