Trying to Find Better Ways to Cope With ADHD
Hi, I’m new here. I’m someone who can get overwhelmed, restless, and stuck in my own head at times, so I’m working on finding healthier ways to cope and handle stress. I’m hoping to connect, learn, and hear what helps other people too.

Hi QuietKindOfStrong,
Welcome! It takes a lot of self-awareness to recognize when you’re feeling overwhelmed and to actively look for better ways to cope, so honestly, it sounds like you’re already tapping into that "strong" part of your username to make positive changes.
Getting stuck in your own head is so common with ADHD, but you're definitely not alone in that, and I know you'll figure out which strategies actually fit your brain best.
Sometimes the best tools are just small, forgiving ones—like being kinder to yourself on the restless days—and I'm sure you’ll find a great rhythm here. You've got this, and I’m looking forward to learning alongside you!
Love and Courage,
Calm Rosebud 🕊️🌹

A psychiatrist suspects that I have ADHD, awaiting full assessment whilst diagnosing me with PTSD nearly 2 years ago at 57 years of age. I'm not surprised it helps explain my life. I was diagnosed as hyperactive at 2 years old and over the years have always used regular exercise mainly cycling, running and regular short walks to take the edge of. Stick on some calming tunes, podcast or audiobook and the multi stimulation helps, well it does for me at least.
Low dose antipsychotics help.
