What is the hardest thing about having ADHD?
Hey everyone!
ADHD has such a long list of symptoms, struggles and behaviours and everyone I have ever met with ADHD has a slightly different experience.
What do you feel is the hardest thing about having ADHD, and have you found anything to help it?
I encourage others to share any tips with people for their struggles too!
For myself I really struggle with the motivation to do normal tasks, like cooking, cleaning etc. I get too distracted and chase the dopamine and then don’t get things done. For me setting up a routine on exactly when I am to do these tasks, and writing a simple to do list I carry around everywhere has helped me get into a rhythm where I just do it without thinking!
I’d to hear everyone else’s experiences!

The guilt you're stuck with when your projects are unfinished and your deadlines are missed.
Have you found anything to help it?
Cultivating self-compassion and cognitive defusion. My ADHD is not me.

hardest thing is I always make people mad because never calm down and always have to move and stuff and always people say calm down hold still go outside and I try not be so annoying but still always am idk how stop be like that
@SupportiveMitch I do the same. I make a short to-do list for the day. I always try to add more and more things, but seems that keeping it simply for my daily basis is the key, cause If I see many things in my to-do list, I get very overwhelmed.
I feel the same, lack of motivation or energy to do basic tasks. And it sucks cause nowadays all my favorite hobbies don’t interest me anymore I try so hard to get myself interested in them again but no luck. I’ll be lucky is a get a dose of dopamine from a funny tik tok or funny video.
the hardest thing for me has just been everything to do with school specifically overstimulation and not comprehending when reading something people mistake it for laziness but it's not im genuinely trying I just can't and it gets to the point I try and do most my work at home. with overstimulation it can get so bad I just melt down especially when I'm alone and the only thing I've found to counter it is listening to music and blocking out the sounds around me
