Letters to the teens - Part 7
💌 @amazingNutella24 - Listener
Hey hey, dear teens! Before I get any further into it, I want to let you know that I've been there, and I understand how scary ageing-up can be. And trust me, you're not alone in this. The process was quite daunting for me. When I was in my early teens, I often wondered how being an adult is. I found myself dreaming of freedom. Little did I know that this evolution could be this intimidating. Transitioning into adulthood brought me a list of challenges, but the one that kept bugging me the most was the constant need to belong. But this longing to belong was not the only issue on my plate. Tackling my newfound responsibilities, fighting the fear of the unknown, and so many more things came my way. Everyone has a different reaction to transitioning into adulthood. Some have planned goals in mind. And some are unsure, searching and exploring. And both of the cases are understandable. And it is easy to find ourselves questioning our purpose during this phase, given the truckload of uncertainties we're hit by out of the blue. The best decision I made during this time was to talk to my seniors. I learned a few of the most important lessons of my life during this period too. I came to realise that it's okay to not be okay, and it's more than okay to seek help. There's nothing to be ashamed of when we find ourselves in need of support. Seeking help isn't a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength, it's the greatest act of bravery, and most importantly, it's a sign of humanness. Please know that we're here for you. I hear how bumpy this road to adulthood is, but hear me out, you're not alone, and you'll make it through. Believe in yourself.

Dear Teens:
Thank you for being here. & I mean that in the broadest sense of the word. Your presence both in this site and in your world is greatly appreciated and we're very lucky that you've decided to volunteer with us. We know growing up can be really scary - believe me, I've been there! It's uncertain and you may have to make some choices you're not ready to make. It's hard, for sure. But please know that you're not alone and it's okay to doubt and make mistakes, but you'll learn from them and you'll grow even more. Between you and me, that's the only secret of growing up, making mistakes, doubting and learning from those fears.
Transitioning into the adult side may seem scary to a lot of teens: but shouldn't be to you! For starters you'll have friends there, all the Adult-Teen Listeners you've seen in Teen Listeners room, if you're a listener or in member rooms, or even chatted with will be on #theotherside too. So you won't ever be alone. But you should also see this as an extension of your privileges: there's a lot more of things you will be able to do now! There's a lot of perks to discover about the adult side, lots of rooms opened at all times and a lot more of fantastic people that you'll now be able to Private Message. You'll be able to help more people - because there's more members in the adult side-, you'll be able to talk to a bigger pool of listeners and you may find just the one for you.
Turning 18 shouldn't be seen as loss: on the contrary, everything you can do now, you still will be able to but you'll gain more access to even more awesome things in our site that you haven't been able to just yet. & for that we should all be excited!
We'll be thrilled to have you as an adult listener and we hope you'll want to become an Adult-Teen Listener too to continue supporting our beloved teen side.
Best, Mel x.

Dear teens out there,
I know it can be hard growing up in this world. The times we are in can be encouraging but also scary and frustrating. But always believe that you are not alone, we here on 7 Cups are here for one another. You have so many opportunities on our platform, you can talk to a listener or a therapist. You can also join one of our communities and take part in your own growth path. We also have group sessions for those who want to share their problems. So come everybody is welcome. We will learn from each other and grow together.

Transitioning to adulthood is a period of searching for an identity, continuing to find one's voice, and balancing caring of self with caring for others. It may feel like a lonely journey especially when others don't 'get' you, or your beliefs or passions. It is natural to feel this way and it is okay to seek support.

Dear Soon to be an Adult Teen,
Change is the only constant in life. That does not mean that it is easy. Every phase of its life has its challenges but the good news is that you get to learn some valuable lessons and continue to grow as a person. My recommendation to you is to not feel obligated to feel as the crowd does and take your time to process the change. It can feel daunting to find yourself in a whole new world once you age up but I encourage you to see it as a new beginning, room for more opportunities and friends! I encourage you to keep in touch with your teen side friends by using forums and explore the realm of possibilities.
You will very likely come across many familiar faces (adult-teen listeners and aged up teens). Embrace this new phase in your life.
Yours Sincerely,
Hope/Laiba
