Transition Support Prompt #6: If you can forgive yourself for one thing, what would it be?

Hello Teens & ATLs, I hope you are all being easy on yourself this week.

Last week we discussed: When you transition to the adult side, do you prefer to plan everything meticulously or go with the flow? Why? Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts for discussion. I enjoyed them. I hope you all did too. If you didn't share yours, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you.

This week's prompt: If you can forgive yourself for one thing, what would it be?

This week I want us to reflect and explore what we can forgive ourselves for, if we can. Self-forgiveness is a bit challenging territory for everyone, so  I look forward to listening to all your experiences and emotions. Let's get started and all thoughts are welcomed!

Also, you can request a Transitioning Mentor to support and guide you as well!

@ASilentObserver I couldn't protect my son from the bad people😞 I wish I had a voice back then😢 I know I couldn't of done anything to stop them back then, so I need to forgive myself. His death was their fault not mine

but it's hard to not blame myself

@Tinywhisper11 I understand this is an incredibly difficult situation to go through. The feelings of loss and not being able to protect your loved one must be so hard to bear. You are right that seeking forgiveness of yourself is important for healing. What emotions have you experienced in trying to come to terms with what happened?

I want to forgive my younger self from yearning love from the wrong people. It wasn't my fault.

@iwillrunawaysomedaysomewherefar ? You're taking steps towards understanding yourself with compassion. It sounds like you're going through a difficult process of reflection. yearning love from others can be so common when we're young. How are you feeling about forgiving your younger self at this time?

Somedays I find myself back into that habit but I treat myself more gently than before, but ofcourse not every time it's like that somedays frustrate me an I'm trying to retrace my steps and step by step I talk to myself about it and forgive myself. It's a long process and I think it will take years.

@iwillrunawaysomedaysomewherefar It sounds like this is an ongoing process of self-care and forgiveness. Can I ask what helps on your better days?

Yes you can. These days selfcare helps me the most it keeps me sane. And also talking with john here helps me as well.

@iwillrunawaysomedaysomewherefar It's helpful that you've found ways of taking care of yourself during challenging times. Self-care and having supportive people to talk to can make a big difference.  I'm glad you have John as a source of support as well.
