Although I am the only one running my area, and have done it successfully for over 4 years, my supervisor rarely asks my opinion (based on experience) when making decisions. She lets coworkers who have no knowledge or understanding dictate how the space looks, is used, etc.
Higher up, when we were asked as librarians if we wanted to move forward with a new library system 3 of us said no. We could see no benefit and had facts to back up our position. Because we were a minority, we were bypassed and now I'm looking at a year end with much more stress than needed thanks to a few people's desire for unnecessary change.
I feel what I have to say doesn't matter at any level in my work. I don't feel any attempt has been made to use my expertise. Instead, I've been told several times to just deal with it.
