Hi

I’m new here my Name is Mia and I’ve been suffering with terrible mental health since 2017. I’m only 20 so ever since I was 13. I have extremely bad agoraphobia to the point I can’t leave the house at all not even to take my bins out ( I’m top floor flat so it would involve going down 4 flights of stairs) I have a daughter who is 2 and I’ve never been able to take her outside myself it is always someone else which makes me feel like such a failure as a mother that I can’t take my daughter to the park someone else has to. I Also have adhd, generalised anxiety, bpd and depressive episodes so there is a whole lot going on and honestly I’m just so tired of it all. I’m tired of not being ok and then if I am on a high it last a few days and I’m back to square one again. I’ve tried loads of different medications etc nothing seems to work. Maybe I’m just destined to feel this way forever? I’ve lost all my friends due to these illnesses, I can’t hold a job down my life is honestly pointless I’m just waking up to go to bed every day. I want to be happy I want to be able to go the shop to get a pint of milk and walk my daughter to nursery all normal things that I can’t do. I’m missing out on so much of my life and my daughters childhood but I feel like I’m stuck in this massive whole with no way out I know people say so exposure therapy but I never seem to be able to complete it it’s like I’ve given up and just don’t see the point in trying anymore…

plz anyone have any tips or advice I feel like I’m the only person going thru this to this extreme which makes me feel even worse.

Hi, you’re definitely not alone. Have you heard of Claire Weekes ‘hope and help for your nerves’ ? This book changed my life and she specializes in dealing with people who have agoraphobia. Can message me with questions if you have any!

@miaxuk21 Hello Mia,

I'm truly sorry to hear about the immense challenges you've been facing since such a young age. It sounds incredibly tough, especially as you navigate motherhood alongside your mental health struggles. Please know that your feelings are valid, and it's okay to feel overwhelmed by what you're going through. It's clear you're doing your best, and that in itself is a testament to your strength, even though it might not always feel like it.

Struggling with agoraphobia, ADHD, anxiety, BPD, and depressive episodes is a heavy load for anyone to carry. It's understandable that you'd feel exhausted and sometimes hopeless, especially when it feels like you've tried everything without finding relief.

Remember, you're not a failure as a mother. Your love and care for your daughter shine through despite the challenges you face. It's also important to recognize that mental health conditions can be incredibly isolating, but you're not alone in feeling this way. Many people struggle in ways that aren't always visible to others.

As for advice, it might help to explore different types of therapy, perhaps ones that focus specifically on the conditions you're dealing with, like DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) for BPD or specialized therapy for agoraphobia. Also, consider reaching out to support groups, online or offline, where you can connect with others who understand your struggles.

Small, incremental steps in exposure therapy, even if they seem tiny, can be significant. Celebrate each small victory and don't be too hard on yourself if progress feels slow. Healing and managing mental health is often not linear.

Lastly, continue to communicate with your healthcare provider about your feelings and experiences. Sometimes it takes numerous attempts to find the right combination of treatments or therapies that work.

You're facing a lot, Mia, but there's hope and help out there. You're doing an incredible job under challenging circumstances, and your efforts matter, especially to your daughter. Stay strong, and take each day one step at a time.
