Anxious over the little things but need motivation.
hi, read some threads from other people and I don’t wanna waste any bodies time because there are others who are going through way worse things than I am. I am just seeking kind words, or responses from anyone. I’m embarrased to talk about my anxiety to my family. I feel anxious and nervous constantly. At the moment I’m anxious for soccer tryouts… I know it’s silly but it feels overwhelming to be anxious about playing a sport I love. It feels like a burden I just wanted to let out and tell someone. And if you’re reading this struggling with the same thing I want to tell you that you will be okay, and everything is going to turn out just fine. Hope this touches someone.
@scarletSouth11 hi sweetie 💗 first of all your not bothering anyone, you have the right to feel and get support the same as anyone else💖 anxiety is a very hard thing to live with 🙁 and it's not always easy to talk to our family/loved ones about our feelings, so well done for reaching out here 💖 I wish you good luck with your soccer tryouts💖 I'm sure your gonna do great💖 gives you a giant tiny hug 💗 never be afraid to reach out💖
@scarletSouth11 I completely get what you're feeling. But I don't feel you should feel guilty or belittle your own struggles. We can't compare the pain either way. I hope you the anxiety go away, and if you feel much overwhelmed talk to us!
@scarletSouth11 Hi there :), let me begin by saying that in no way are you wasting anybodies time, your struggles are equally valid to the struggles of someone else, and you 100% deserve to be heard if you need a listening ear. We all need a support figure now and then =).
I'm sorry that you're feeling so anxious and nervous all the time, that must be exhausting! It sounds like it is very isolating not being able to talk to family about your mental health, I'm sorry you're going through this. You say you feel embarassed talking to your family about your anxiety, why do you think this is?
Having got anxiety myself, i understand how horrible it is to be anxious and nervous constantly, it is very tiring and uncomfortable. What do you like to do to help manage your anxiety? Do you have a relaxing hobby for example?
Feeling so anxious about soccer tryouts is understandable, it is a lot of pressure to manage. You say that your love soccer, so I totally respect you feeling so anxious; you're passionate about it and you care about the sport, so of course tryouts would be very overwhelming and stressful. Despite this, this stress will pass, tryouts don't last forever, and you can then go back to enjoing soccer without the pressure of it all.
Wishing you well,
Oscar
Thank you Oscar, reading your response helped me realize I’m in a safe space and I’m not alone. To answer your question I say I feel embarrassed because my mom has always told me to stop playing soccer, and telling her I’m anxious would probably give her another reason as to why I should stop. I also just believe she will judge me for being anxious over these types of things. To answer your second question, I actually got a response from someone else to do this breathing method and grounding practice. Naming 5 things I see, 4 things I feel, 3 things I hear, 2 things I could smell, and something I could taste. I tried it and it helps me relax, I will definitely be doing that more often! Lastly I would like to thank you. Thank you for caring and taking time out of your day to respond, to comfort me, and for your helpful words. I’m sorry you go through anxiety yourself, you can talk to me about it if you’d like. I may not be the best at comforting but I’m a good listener! Again thank you this means a lot to me. Knowing I’m not alone and there are others who relate to me and will hear me out is comforting.
@scarletSouth11 Hello once again and sorry for the slow reply! How are you feeling since your last post?
I'm sorry you're not able to speak to your mom about this, and that she doesn't want you to play Soccer. It's never nice to receive resistance or disagreement from someone you care about over an activity you enjoy. Why does she not like you playing Soccer do you think?
Regarding that grounding technique, I'm really glad you are familiar with it; it is really helpful, and as you have experienced, it can help with anxiety a lot. Mindfulness and/or meditation may also be something you could try if you are looking for other anxiety calming resources.
Wishing you well,
Oscar
Hi, I understand the anxiety that comes with playing sports! I used to play basketball and I feel like I was always struggling to prove myself on court in front of everyone. I'm sorry it has been hard and a source of anxiety for you! I hope you hear me say that you're understood and valued and that we all wish you the very best ð§¡
Here we can help
I can really relate to this. I've had problems with anxiety for a while, both big and small, even about sharing and experiencing the things I love. Let me tell you, no matter how small it is, it's important to take care of yourself. Even if it seems insignificant. Sometimes, little things can be our largest stressors.
Breathe. You are safe in this moment.
Ground yourself: Name 5 things you see, 4 you can touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, 1 you taste.
Thoughts are not facts. You are separate from your worries.
This will pass. Anxiety is a wave—let it rise and fall without fighting it.
Be kind to yourself. You’re doing the best you can, right now.
(You’ve survived 100% of your worst days. This, too, shall pass.) 💙
