Are anxiety support groups actually a thing

I have been wondering this for a long time since I've been dealing with mental health issues for a long time. Why is it that I see an almost endless number of local support groups for addiction but almost none for anxiety. There's like 60,000 members for anxiety and only like 13,000 for addiction. I don't get it. I mean ive run into bullies in addiction support groups, I do have that too, but not nearly as severely as this.

Hello! Your question has definitely caught my attention. It seems like you've noticed a difference in the availability of local support groups, with more options for addiction but fewer for anxiety. The numbers you mentioned definitely do seem quite imbalanced. I have a hunch that the abundance of addiction-related support groups could be because addiction often requires more immediate and direct intervention. On the other hand, anxiety is a more complex and nuanced condition that may call for different approaches and resources. It's disappointing to hear about your negative experiences with addiction support groups.

However, it's important to keep in mind that each group is unique, and while some might not be the best fit, others might offer comfort and understanding. As you continue your search for support, it might be worth exploring other options like online communities or counselling services that specifically cater to anxiety.

Remember, finding well-being is a journey that involves various aspects, and with resilience and perseverance, you'll find the comfort you're looking for.
