Bottled up/ suppressed emotions

To those who have bottled up their emotions about daily stress or irritations, how do you release them? Because it’s consuming me.

I have a mock exam in this month and a final in October. Stress levels are high and my mind only knit picks about whether I’m studying enough or slacking off. I also feel irritated by anything and everything. I feel like my thoughts are racing restlessly everyday and I’ve never felt like this before. My anxiety is off the roof and I can’t even control it.

So yeah, thanks a bunch for reading till the end. I hope whoever reads this has a wonderful day.

Hey @lightOak8186, i'm sorry to hear about how anxious you are at the moment. When stress builds over time and you don't have anywhere for those emotions to go, it makes complete sense that everything starts to feel irritating, heavy and hard to control. You're not alone in feeling this way!

What you described (racing thoughts, feeling restless, worrying about whether you’re doing enough, getting irritated by small things) are really common signs of anxiety when you’re under a lot of academic pressure. Mock exams and finals can take up so much mental space, and when your brain is constantly in “performance mode,” it’s easy for emotions to get bottled up until they feel unbearable.

A lot of people here deal with the same thing, and different things help different people. Some find relief through talking things out, some through journaling, some through taking small breaks to reset, and some through grounding techniques. You’re allowed to experiment with what helps you release some of that pressure instead of holding it all inside.

Please do keep reaching out whenever you need support, you can keep using the forums if that feels easier, or you can also request a 1:1 chat with a listener at any time if you want someone to talk to privately.

Sending virtual hugs💜

Emma

I’ve been in straight denial of having anxiety and stuff because my previous psychiatrist fed me full of nonsense that nothing’s wrong with me, but still gave me loads of antidepressants and sedating drugs.

Thank you so much for the reply, means a lot.
