Career anxiety
I never thought I would have to face career anxiety because I’m one of those people who makes a lot of lists and plans even if things don’t go as planned. So of course my career plans were made since childhood. I wanted to became a doctor since I was very young. I am a cancer survivor. I had it when I was 4 years old. I grew up among patients and doctors and spent my entire childhood in hospitals fighting cancer and watch other people fight it or fail. My treatment was successful and now I’m a 19 year old (soon to be 20) and an A level candidate. Pursuing a medical life was the only thing that kept pushing me forward and motivated me to keep achieving my study goals. I’ve been working on it since childhood. In our country we need to have all 3 science subjects (physics, biology, and chemistry) for medical exam and I’ll need to sit for the exam within next year. But I didn’t do well on my A level so I’ll need to repeat all of them again. I had 4 subjects (Phy,chem, bio, math) but since I’ll need to repeat and I’ll have to complete A level within next year (otherwise I won’t be able to get into any good universities) I had to drop one subjects. I would’ve dropped math but I love maths and did well in exam but I hate physics and did really bad in Phy exam so I dropped it. Now that I don’t have physics, I cannot pursue a medical life anymore. Me and my family did very critical thinking and came to this conclusion and I was fine the past couple days. But someone said “you’re the only dedicated person I’ve seen with such inspiring story to be a doctor” that struxk me and now I’m getting really anxious on whether I made a mistake or not and if not then what am I gonna study now? What am I gonna be career wise? What’s gonna push me forward to keep going now? And I see my friends and classmates pursue their medical and it makes me very emotional and regretting. I don’t know what to do now.
