Feeling so scared now
My doctor just discovered a mass in my abdomen today. Getting a series of tests starting next week.
The doctor was telling me all sorts of possible things. But all I can think about is I am 40. Don’t have kids. And this could be the end of me already.
I’ve been getting waves of anxiety attacks. Sometimes felt like I couldn’t breathe.
I guess it’s especially hard because even though I am old, I don’t feel old. I always felt I still have plenty of time. I honestly haven’t done much with my life. And now the possibility of time running out just scares me so much. I don’t know what to do.

First off, 40 is not old. That’s likely why you don’t feel old, bc you aren’t. Sure it is old compared to your 20s or younger but those years were too young and you weren’t as wise and experienced as you are now in your 40s.
As for being scared and having anxiety, people have a bad habit of having anxiety about things that haven’t happened yet but are just scared of the What If’s even though they know if’s are not guarantees. They’re just possibilities or potentials but that doesn’t mean they’ll happen. It’s like this naturally bad habit that is in everyone.
Having lived 40 years there had to have been some good times/experiences/memories in your life. If so, focus on that. Think it, write them down, sing it, talk about it with yourself or with someone, however you need to so your mind will be taken off this so your anxiety will be reduced or gone. Try not to be scared, have anxiety. And till you need to, or till you’re told everything you need to know after all the tests are completed, try to not even think about it by distracting yourself with any good whatsoever.
