How anxiety feels to me and how I deal with it
First of all I am glad that we have a dedicated community for anxiety support.
I would like to share what happens with me when feeling anxious.
It starts with my brain getting numb thus vision gets blurry. Even though I am able to see it and somehow read, I wont be able to understand.
Then my fingers become fat, as in of I type in phone.. I will press the key beside my intended one..
Then comes my heart that beats like a running horse. Due to it then starts sweating. And if I reach this stage of anxiety means it'll take hours for me to settle down.
Most of the time I prefer to restrict my condition before heart gets involved by drinking water and doing breathing exercise. After heart gets involves breathing exercise wont work and slower approach like '5 4 3 2 1' exercise might come for rescue. Even though we cant guarantee that exercise will execute properly and work. It is difficult to concentrate with racing heart and numb brain.
I have experienced one thing with myself, I am not sure if it applies to everyone. When feeling depressed or other emotions seeking other's support through talk helps to improve or come out of that moment. But for anxiety attack, we have to deal ourselves as talking with others wont work. As we are not in condition to talk itself. If someone sees us that time, they may come but it confuses or mostly scare them if they are new to witness it.
@FaithMonk9473 anxiety is a difficult illness to learn to live with 🙁 the first couple of stages you described I never know how to tell a therapist so I say it's like your brain cloud'ing over. At that point I reach for something cold, that always helps being me back to the real world. But your right it's not something you can talk about during the anxiety attack🙁 it's just so hard to learn to do it ourselves. I'm glad the breathing technique helps you a bit 💖 gives you a giant tiny hug 💗
