I hate feeling trapped inside my own head.

It's hard to describe, it's like all of my emotions are trapped inside of me, it's clawing at my brain, all of the thoughts, emotions, that I cannot express. When I'm starting the day, I'm can be perfectly fine, I'm happy, smiling, joking around, but it's always late at night when I feel this sadness creep over me and I start to feel dramatic, I feel dramatic for feeling sad because I have no reason to, I have a good family, I have good friends, I have no reason to hate my life or myself so I just sit there in silence rethinking everything, am I truly feeling something or is it my brain manipulating me.

Hi,

I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. What you described doesn’t sound dramatic at all. Sometimes emotions stay buried during the day when we’re distracted, and at night everything becomes quieter, so those thoughts and feelings feel much louder.

And having a good family or friends doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to struggle emotionally. Your feelings are still valid even if you can’t fully explain where they’re coming from.

Maybe it could also help to try journaling sometimes, not to force yourself to fix your emotions, but just to understand them a little better. Writing thoughts down can make things feel less trapped inside your head and help you notice patterns in what you’re feeling.

You don’t have to have all the answers right now. Please be gentle with yourself.

I used to have trouble figuring things out so I usually ignored it and let it fester but then when it was ready to be heard..

I couldn't make sense of it. What I did was to stop forcing it piece together and I went for walks or did some freestyle journalling and eventually it unravelled itself.

Perhaps it just needs time to process, at your own pace :)
