I just want normal sleep

Ok so for some backstory. I have not been able to sleep normally for about a month now. About a week into this pattern I did seek out professional help and currently still on a wait list for a psychiatrist to see me. However I don't know how much more of this I can take and need advice on getting a good night's rest.

So the symptoms of my bad sleep is I either wake up and unable to go back to sleep, wake up and fall back asleep multiple times due to nightmares, about to fall asleep then my body jerks me awake, or I sleep normal but wake up paralyzed by panic for about 10-15 min till I can get out of bed. My friend suggested that maybe I have some underlying anxiety that might be there and I have been having random anxiety feelings throughout the day but for seemingly no reason. Not really any triggers that I've noticed but I'm also way too tired to deep dive into what I may be anxious about. Any tips just to get some nice uninterrupted sleep?

It’s good you’re staying on the wait list. Takes time, but worth it. I delayed getting help for depression because of long waits. Should have gone sooner.

I imagine my pillow is a cloud. Try to think of happy things before you fall asleep. Flowers, puppies, kittens, hugs. Warm milk with honey in it and a dash of cinnamon is soothing. Lastly, do you believe in God? Try saying a prayer before bed and give your worries to Him.

Best wishes, hope this helps.
