Late diagnosed Adhd

I'm late diagnosed 'severe' ADHD. Because of my character I have no support system, since my childhood I was to one who helps others, who feels responsible about making the people that I love happy. Now i'm (26yo) paying everything cash.

Burnout, Anxiety, many Trauma response + financial stress because I went to another country to finish my studies, can't find a job because I fear new experiences, avoid phone calls...

Actually I can't describe how miserable the situation is, nobody else know what I'm going through because I do 'Masking' and I don't want my friends and family to know anything about this, because I don't want to see them sad about me. And honestly I don't think they are strong enough to hear my story.

@happylook Hey, thank you for sharing your experiences and for reaching out for support, I'm glad you are here💜

It sounds like you've been carrying so much on your own for a long time, and I can hear how exhausting and isolating it's been. The way you describe being the one who always helped others, always felt responsible for keeping others happy etc, that kind of role can take a huge toll.

I can hear how alone you feel in all of this with masking, hiding your struggles and protecting the people you care about from feeling sad. It's such a heavy thing to hold, and it makes sense that you're feeling burnt out and overwhelmed.

I was also late diagnosed with ADHD (at 23), and a lot of what you said really resonated with me. For me, it was a long period of trying to understand myself again, what was actually me and what parts of my life were draining me without me realising. It's such a strange mix of relief and grief, and it can feel really lonely when you don't think anyone around you would understand.

You mentioned not being able to describe how miserable things feel right now, and I just wanted you to know that your feelings make sense. You're dealing with burnout, anxiety, trauma responses, financial stress and doing it all without a support system that truly understands you. That's a lot for anyone.
