My dad sucks
hi im pretty new to this app and i just wanna vent out my problems in here as well as on how i feel today. And please beware of my bad English. Im asian.
My friend has her birthday today, she's now 18 and im invited to her party. My dad is okay to that idea, until he asked if my brown dress that he bought for me was still in my closet so i could wear it. I couldn't find it so i told him truthfully that i didn't know where I've placed it.
And he got mad obviously, he's ranting on how i was irresponsible and im not going to go to the party unless i find the dress. Few minutes later i didn't find the dress but i was called to eat breakfast.
I thought its just gonna be fine, but my dad still proceeds to rant on how i was an irresponsible child and id be so poor if he and my mom was gone. I didn't argue back i just ate silently, then my dad talked about my past mistakes and on how i was a '***' for not accepting my teacher's recommendations in some extra curricular in school.
I got offended and told him that im not entering an activity that i was forced to do and uncomfortable with it. My dad took it as a disrespect and threw his fork in my way (good thing it didn't hit my face) and threatening me to get out of the house if i spoke one more word.
So that's why i don't open up to people and voice out my opinions. Because my dad says it's disrespectful. And im not allowed to go to my friend's party.

Heyyy thereee, I just want you to know that I'm really sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. It sounds incredibly difficult, and I can understand why you'd be feeling hurt and frustrated.
I completely empathize with your situation; my mom is very similar to your dad, and it really does suck. It's incredibly tough to feel like we can't express ourselves and have to absorb those verbal throws.
Avoiding conflict, especially in an environment where your opinions and feelings aren't respected, is a natural response.
But please, remember that you're not alone in this struggle. You have an entire community here who will listen and support you without judgment.
You have every right to have your own thoughts and preferences, and your feelings are absolutely valid. I hope you can feel comfortable expressing yourself here in our little corner of the internet.
You don't have to face this alone, and you are much stronger than you might realize.
When things get too tough at home, know that many of us here have got your back.
Best wishes to you 💜
