Negative Thoughts

My mind has been thinking negative thoughts, such as someone will set-up me and sue me then I will go in jail. Or that someone will cause harm to my being. This has been going for over two months now, and my mind cannot stop imagining things. What should I do, hope someone can help me

@activemind10 I can really hear how distressing it must be to have your mind filled with these negative thoughts for months. It makes sense that it feels overwhelming when the mind keeps imagining worst-case scenarios like being set up, sued, or harmed. Anxiety often works this way—it convinces us that something bad might happen, even when there’s no real evidence behind the fear. You’re not alone in experiencing this. 🌿

Some things that may help when the thoughts come:

Reality check: Remind yourself, “This is just a thought, not a fact.” Our brains sometimes treat thoughts like truths, but they don’t define reality.

Grounding techniques: Try the 5-4-3-2-1 exercise (5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, 1 you can taste). It helps bring your focus back to the present moment instead of the “what ifs.”

Journaling: Write down the fear and then gently challenge it. For example: “What evidence do I actually have that this will happen? What’s another possibility?”

Breathing practice: Slow, deep breathing can calm your nervous system and quiet the racing mind. Even 2–3 minutes of deep breaths can help.

Limit triggers: If certain news, conversations, or social media increase these fears, it’s okay to take a step back from them.

And most importantly: if the thoughts feel unmanageable or are interfering with your daily life, reaching out to a therapist or counselor could really help. Talking through the fears with a professional often brings relief and tools that make the thoughts less powerful.

You’ve already taken a strong step by sharing this here—it shows you want to feel better, and that courage matters. 💙 You don’t have to go through this alone.

Have you notices anything that brings you even a little bit of relief when these thoughts show up?
