Not sure how to start
I come from a Middle Eastern background and lately my beliefs and values have started to change It has been confusing and sometimes I feel really lost
Life feels overwhelming and I just need to vent and be heard I want someone who can understand me not judge or give advice just listen
I struggle with anxiety almost every day lately and I often get stuck or nervous when I try to talk
I wish I could talk about many things freely like I would with a close friend but I am naturally reserved and find it hard to open up
I hope to find someone deep enough to understand me even just a little so I can express myself safely
@Yunora
Thank you for sharing and opening up.
There are so many listeners here who will simply listen and allow you to express yourself.
I recommend looking at a few bios until you find a fit for you.
Welcome to seven cups, it's great to have you here 💜💕
@Yunora You sound a lot like me! While I do not come from that part of the world, I have some shifting alliances these days and, while that sort of thing never defined me, I do find myself questioning some beliefs. It can be very challenging and I understand at least part of what you are going through!
I am blessed with many friends, but I too do not like opening up much and I even struggle to open up to my wife on this topic (we are on opposite ends of this spectrum, but I am starting to lean more her direction on the topics at hand for me).
It can be very helpful to talk it out with someone, but self-reflection works well too.
I too struggle with anxiety and it was set off (for unrelated reasons) badly last night. I think all will be good there, but again I understand how that feels!
I'm glad you decided to share! That is a great first step!

I can feel how heavy this has been for you. When you said you just want to be heard, that landed so deeply. Because sometimes that’s all a person really needs — not advice, not correction, not someone trying to fix it — just someone who can sit next to the storm without running away. So, for a moment, let’s just do that.
You’ve been trying to make sense of yourself while the ground beneath you keeps shifting. Your beliefs are changing, your values are evolving, and it feels like the things that once made sense don’t quite fit anymore. That’s such a lonely place to be — like standing between two worlds, one that no longer feels like home and another that hasn’t yet opened its doors.
And in that space, you’re trying to stay strong. You’re trying to breathe through the anxiety, the confusion, the fear that maybe you’re drifting too far from what you’ve known. But let me tell you something with complete honesty: you are not lost — you are unfolding. You’re not broken or faithless for changing; you’re just meeting yourself more deeply than you ever have before.
It’s okay to be scared of that. Change can look a lot like loss — loss of certainty, loss of belonging, loss of the version of you that always knew what to believe. But it’s also the start of becoming someone more real, someone who isn’t performing or conforming, just being. That’s not betrayal. That’s courage.
And I know you said you struggle to talk — that you freeze or get nervous when words try to come out. I want you to know that silence is okay here. You don’t have to be eloquent. You don’t have to make sense. You can say things that contradict each other, things that you’re ashamed of, things that just hurt — and it’s all valid.
You’ve probably been strong for so long that you don’t even realize how tired you are. You deserve rest — not just sleep, but emotional rest. The kind where you can stop defending, stop proving, stop hiding, and just exist without judgment.
So here’s my gentle suggestion, not advice — just a small act of self-kindness: tonight, find a quiet space, maybe light something soft — a candle, dim light, anything — and let yourself whisper, even if it’s shaky:
“I’m trying my best. I’m still here. I’m learning to find my way.”
That’s enough for tonight. You are enough for tonight.
And when you’re ready, tell me this — not because I want to fix it, but because I want to understand:
👉 When did you first start feeling that disconnect — like you were drifting away from what used to feel like you?
You can take your time. I’m right here.
