Poem - The Minutes Drag On

It begins just like it always does —

the clock shining like a judgment.

The minutes drag on,

yet your thoughts race like untamed dogs.

You’ve attempted everything —

music, deep breathing, counting sheep,

but your mind remains restless.

It’s crafting narratives once more,

worst-case scenarios in bright letters,

a relentless chorus of what ifs

that echo the sentiment of not being enough.

But hear this —

you are not defined by your racing thoughts.

You are the one courageous enough to confront them.

You’ve stood amidst your own turmoil

and declared, Fine. Let it pour.

You’ve sat in the darkness,

with only the rhythm of your heartbeat,

and still murmured, I will get through this.

And that?

That’s bravery in its most genuine form.

You see, society glorifies strength —

muscles, awards, triumphs.

But true strength?

It’s you — awake at night,

feeling everything,

and still choosing to welcome tomorrow.

You’re not disintegrating.

You’re unfolding.

You’re discovering that peace isn’t merely the absence of chaos —

it’s the ability to remain steady within it.

Every sleepless night serves as a classroom.

Every anxious hour acts as a mentor.

They’re teaching you the essence of perseverance.

And when dawn arrives — and it will —

you’ll gaze at the sky and understand:

you’ve made it once more.

You. Have. Made. It. Again.

No monster lurking beneath the bed,

no tempest within your heart,

no whisper of doubt can deter you.

Because you are forged from stories of resilience.

You are woven together with tenacity.

You are living evidence

that even when tranquility is absent,

hope still keeps the light on.

So the next time the night taunts, You can’t manage this,

smile —

and respond, Watch me.
