Relationship and how Anxiety Affects it
I have had so many small arguments with my bf of only 7 months that have exploded into this way more intense back and forth that stem from my anxiety. A lot of the time I’m unable to trust his word or I’ll dive really deep into what he’s saying and I’ll overthink. He gets really upset because I have a hard time wording what I really want to say. Like for example, today I told him I felt he wasn’t prioritizing me. But through our conversation I found I just wanted him to communicate with me more so I know he’s thinking about me. This ended up developing into much worse of an argument which had him bringing up a bunch of other things saying “I’m sorry I don’t love you as much as you expect me to.” just because on the phone I said I expected him to understand that I needed him to communicate more.
But I will say my boyfriend is kind of quick to anger so he’ll bring up the past a lot like other arguments that I thought we were done bringing up. I don’t know it feels unfair sometimes, like we get nowhere because of it and I’ll just have to apologize for multiple things instead of just one thing.
I just don’t know what to do i guess. I am getting prescribed to medication soon for anxiety so hopefully that will help.

You’re in a difficult situation—something that happens quite often when partners don’t know themselves very well, or don’t truly understand each other. Sometimes it’s just a lack of experience, or perhaps a few honest mistakes. But at other times, it points to a fundamental incompatibility. It’s a daunting thought, but it’s a reality. It’s perfectly normal to feel anxious about this, but it’s crucial that your anxiety isn’t compounded by the arguments you’re having—because if that’s the case, the relationship loses its purpose. If you feel that things are heading in the wrong direction, it might be better to walk away. To just stop. Your mental health is what matters most. That said, I truly wish you both—and you personally—all the very best.
