Short Advice? Idk
I haven’t seen much of these on here, so I’m going to write one. I feel what I’m about to write will be very helpful to anyone who went through this or might still be going through this (like myself, only less severe).
I want to start off by saying that anxiety never goes away, it’s just about how you manage it. I might only be speaking for myself with this one though. As long as I can remember, I’ve always had anxiety about things. Talking and interacting with new people was a big one for me, but other things would give me anxiety too. I moved away from my home town before starting high school, and this was probably one of the hardest times in my life. I wasn’t forced to move away, I really wanted to. I had a positive outlook on things; I was convinced that I would make new friends, talk more, become more mature, and none of that happened. I’m not going to explain exactly what had happened that year, but my anxiety got so bad to the point where I’d get so nervous and sometimes not even respond when someone would talk to me. Walking into school gave me extreme anxiety.
I’m not sure if my home life and all that I’ve been through plays a factor in my anxiety, but I have had it rough at home as well. I feel like my anxiety stems from all of my insecurities that my trauma gave to me. I have no confidence and always look down upon myself, which kind of gives me anxiety about doing things. The beginning of high school was rough. I’m a sophomore now, and things are definitely better, but not fully. I still struggle with my self image and anxiety to this day, but before going into this school year, I told myself I wouldn’t let my anxiety rule me. And I didn’t.
Sometimes I still do, I let my anxiety stop me from doing things that I need or want to do. It’s a tough process to get through. I now have a boyfriend who loves me so much. My anxiety gets in the way of our relationship sometimes, but he cares about me. I talk to more people, although I don’t have much friends. The point of my story is, if can find a way to manage my anxiety and not let it completely rule my life, you can too.
