Social anxiety

Hi guys. I recently had realized that in my relationships I have been acting based on fear instead of actual enjoyment. I make friends because I need them to survive mentality if that makes sense and the people I’ve been trying to be friends with are noticing it. This may seem really weird but it’s something I realize I do. But I was wondering if there was a way I could make up for what I did because I do want to be friends with them I just didn’t know how to approach it and now I know I should approach with my genuine self.

@bunnywunny7 - Hello

(Hi guys. I recently had realized that in my relationships I have been acting based on fear instead of actual enjoyment) ... this shows that you are self aware to understand that you should enjoy being with others instead of seeking companionship driven by fear.  Good for you.

(But I was wondering if there was a way I could make up for what I did because I do want to be friends with them I just didn’t know how to approach it and now I know I should approach with my genuine self) ... Yes many people have very good "social radar" and can pick up if someone is trying to hard, is too nervous, etc.  Being our genuine self can be challenging but it can improve social connection and let you find the right tribe of others.  Also, ask yourself why you want to be friends with someone... if it's just to "collect" friends without having some kind of chemistry that may not work.   If the chemistry is there, that makes it much easier to socially bind with them.   Good luck.
