Panic Attacks & "Intrusive Thoughts"
Hello! So this is my first time joining an online therapy/chat group (Truthfully, I didnt even know they excited). Hopefully I'm posting in the right place! I apologize in advance if I am!
I've had crippling anxiety (social and generalized) as well as panic attacks for years now. It's a continuous struggle that I'm still working on overcoming one day at a time. However, one symptom I've noticed that continues to set me back are random "intrusive thoughts" that trigger my panic attacks, partially or completely. Half the time, these thoughts make zero sense and are more akin to random out-of-the-box wondering than anything else. The problem is that, if they trigger my panic attacks, I fall into a downward spiral of anxiety because I'm always worried that I'm losing my mind or fear that I'm delusional or paranoid even though I know it's just my panic disorder wreaking havoc on my thoughts.
Does anyone else experience this issue?
@hobbit94 I go through this too and I use some of these handy links that 7 cups has made hopefully this helps you as it helps me: https://www.7cups.com/wiki/anxiety-panic-attacks-and-phobias-hotlines-and-resources/
@hobbit94
I know exactly how you feel. I often have weird intrusive thoughts that dont make any sense as well. Its made me feel like Im losing my mind or going crazy which caused me to panic even more. The important thing to remember is that these thoughts are just thoughts. You want to get rid of these thoughts and dont like them right? Thats proof that these thoughts are not who you are.
