Panic attacks about taxes :(

Hi there,

I have had at least 2-3 panic attacks about filing my taxes. I was able to get an extension last month despite having a considerable panic attack about it at that time.

Now I am trying to finish it and having more panic. I was able to get through some of it today, but there's parts of it I don't understand, like it asked if I am filing late and said something about a penalty, so I don't know how to say I got an extension. ARGHHH

I have intense anxiety about asking questions because my parents are harshly critical. My mom yelled at me for not taking taxes seriously enough and also for missing a form before. I am going to try to call the turbotax hotline on tuesday. I hope they can help me or forward me to further help. arghh

I feel like when I try to ask questions about this type of thing, the person tends to be really REALLY patronizing and not explain things at ALL so that shoots my panic attack further through the roof. arghhh I also have no idea where to go to ask a question. I feel like a deer in headlights because 1) I have a ton a of questions 2) I don't know who to ask 3) I'm afraid to ask

I wish there was someone I could just TALK to who would actually help me understand. I tried looking up terms like "deduction" and "Withholding" and somehow all the definitions seem to be for people who already know what the words mean, i.e. they're useless or there's so much technical jargon within the definition itself that it's useless.

Please help somebody.

@Daydreamer47 I wouldn't know the first thing about taxes, since I haven't had to file them myself but it sounds so stressful sad I hope you're able to get some help and support by Tuesday. Sending you positive thoughts heart

Tax season can trigger panic like nothing else—especially when you’re already managing anxiety. A close friend tried filing through FreeTaxUSA to keep things simple, but something glitched right before submitting, and it locked her out of the return. Full-on spiral. She ended up reading through https://freetaxusa.pissedconsumer.com/review.html while trying to figure out if it was just her, and that calmed her down more than the platform did. Sometimes peace of mind starts with knowing you’re not alone in the mess.
