Post anxiety attack - What's your self care routine?
A little about my anxiety:
I've had anxiety attacks since I was 14. Apparently I've always been an extremely anxious child (panic from loud noises, flying bugs etc). I take Pregabalin (Lyrica) and Citalopram. Recently (about 3-4 months) I've been taking Propanalol for tachycardia and fast heart rate, but it helps the panic too.
My question to you is this: What do you do to care for yourself after an anxiety attack? I tend to take Professor Lupin's advice and have some chocolate, make myself a cup of tea (I am British you know). I sometimes take a bath.
Love to you all.

I have had a panic attack before. Now, I don't get panic attacks per se, but I really get anxious at public gathering when I have to speak something, or attend a call with a Client. Whenever I become super anxious, I try to persuade myself, it is ok. I don't have to perform always or say the best thing. Its ok, and doesn't really matter how people will take me. When I feel anxious, depressed, and irritable at home, I prefer crying out, and then I fall asleep. But these are I think short term remedies. For anxiousness, I think the best is to realize that it is ok and I am not afraid or I don't care. That's the best way that I feel.
This is all new to me. I've had 2 in the last four months. I find I want someone close and or to be able to reach out and touch that person or hold their hand. Just connect. Does anyone feel this and how to you solve this when it isn't always possible to ha e someone around.
@Jane114 I feel the same and I find cuddling a pet is a good substitute

I take a shower, since I'm usually absolutely disgusting after a panic attack (sweat, tears, snot, sometimes blood if I self-harmed). I take care of my wounds. If I can, I talk to someone in person. I also make a cup of decaf tea and drink a TON of water. Most of the time I'm seriously wiped out so I just fall asleep on any horizontal surface.
I tend to struggle with my anxiety when i have to come out of my comfort zone, like driving to new places however i think about my previous expereincnes and realise i got through it so why not get though it again
I've had a few within the last 6 months. I am getting better at controlling my panic once it happens. I breathe very deeply and try to stay calm. I also listen to a youtube video on calming yourself during an attack. It helps you breathe slowly. It's a guided meditation by Rasa Lukosiute.
I had a mild on this morning at 5;30. iT was ok afterwards but I still feel a bit anxious and tired and a bit low. Although I told myself that I handled it well and it went away fairly quickly, I still feel that way.
I have no particular routine after. Its only today I realized that other people also feel like this after a panic attack and maybe there is something I can do to to help how I feel. Today I tried listening to some upbeat music to get my mind off it. I think I tent to worry about it too much afterwards. Like right now Im wondering if my blood pressure is high.
Anyhow, good luck to you all. I hope we can all get this under control and live our lives happily and in peace.
