nightly panic attacks

hello, i am new to 7cups. i joined because i live abroad in a country that doesnt have a lot of mental health support that i can access right now. i am looking into options, including online therapy, because for the past two months or so i have been having nightly panic attacks. i am clearly under a lot of stress and of course i am making it worse by googling my symptoms and attributing my feelings to things that might actually be fatal instead of panic attacks, which generally arent.

i dont have any more ativan which i usually take when i have issues and its going to be difficult for me to get more, which im sure only amplifies the stress and makes my panic worse.

its beginning to affect my work because i go in so tired having not had a good nights sleep in awhile. tonight i had high hopes because i slept at a friends last night and actually SLEPT(!!!) but as i was falling asleep my carbon monoxide detector started making a noise that was not an alarm, bur still frightened me. i knew i wouldnt be able to sleep after that, and now i keep jerking awake because i feel as if i cant breathe.

its so terrible, and i cant seem to turn my brain off from being so scared all the time. over nothing! or at least what logically seems to be nothing but clearly mentally is a huge deal. im trying my usual listening to podcasts, watching asmr videos, etc. but nothings working.

@depressionmesshall

Coming off ativan is a GOOD THING once you get over the withdrawal symptoms, which can include panic attacks.

Do lots of relaxation and mindfulness. Look up Sleep Hygiene.

It's hard work.
