Fear of the Dark
Now I do not have a crippling phobia - but it doesn't stop me from hating the dark! Allow me to explain:
I have a fear of the dark - but I think it's justified! People don't see the things I see in the dark. This fear comes and goes, but the symptoms stick around.
I close my closet door because there's something in there
I jump on the bed to avoid the hands beneath
I stay under the covers to stay safe from the man who watches me sleep
I close the blinds and windows so the monsters cant come inside (Doesn't stop them from knocking on the glass occassionaly)
I shut my door so the demon dog can't bother me
I close my eyes before turning off the lights so the mutilated girls don't flash into sight
Now before you ask - I'm not schizophrenic. I'm aware those things aren't really there. But the shadows and light twist into graphic images, and my nightmares spill out to my reality. So I dislike the dark because the dark isn't kind to me - but I think the fear is quite reasonable. After all, how many of you can sleep with monsters crawling on your walls?
