Separation anxiety to extremes
I struggle with extreme anxiety and panic attacks and for the last few years my moms been the only person whose helped me and really been there for me. She’s able to calm me down and I really trust her but now I noticed I can’t manage my panic attacks without her and I am extremely anxious when I can’t get ahold of her when I’m panicked or if she leaves town or isn’t accessible. I’m extremely embarrassed and ashamed I am this way. I know I’m an adult now (I’m 23) but I feel like she’s the only one who can help me I don’t know how to get better but I don’t want to be this way anymore and I’ve tried therapy and meds

It must be hard for you to be away from your mom. I can see how eager you want to change, but therapy and meds seem not to work well for you yet. It takes a lot of courage to admit this. Do you think discussing this situation with your mom can be a good start? Thank you for sharing this topic with us. I see a lot of brave in you. Wish you the best.
Thank you so much you have no idea how much it means to me. And yes I tell her often and she knows it’s a problem she’s very encouraging that I can get past this it’s just very scary and I don’t have a lot of family so it’s only ever been her taking care of me. I need to realize other people can help me It just may not be the same way she does

You have a very good mom. I know separation and try to rely on new people is not easy. But don't worry and you are right about there are other people who can help. Although the support from others may not be the same as the one your mom gives you, the supporter will try their best to help. Welcome to let me know how are things work out for you. Wish you the best.
