Sociaphobia
Hi! I have social phobia and I am really tired of it. It affect almost everything in my life. I can't do shopping because I can't ask anything from shop assistant, can't use transportation normally because I think everybody looks at me. But the worst thing is it totally affects my education. I shy to say anthing in class, to answer questions, even speak with groupmates whom I am not so close. I always run away from conversations among many people(even in the class) and when I do I get nervous, my face and voice begin shaking and it makes me so stressed. So I am very silent in classroom, all teachers thinks I am not a good student and my grades get lower. Also after a couple of weeks I should show presentation and it is the hardest thing for me I already begin to stress.
It is getting worse. I feel that I get nervous even while speaking with my closest friends now:/
Hey there! I wanted to commend you on making this post in spite of everything, I know how hard it can be. What's going on is really difficult, but I want you to know I'm here for you. I don't have the answer to everything, but I'll listen and offer support. I'm so glad you found us here!
@User18 I am proud of you for posting this and trying to overcome this. Message me if you need to chat about it just let me know you are from this thread :). This site has so many amazing tools to help you :)
You sound like me when I as in school. Anxiety will always have us second (and third and fourth) guessing ourselves. My best advice to you do some self-evaluation to identify why you feel this way. Are you afraid you are going to say something silly, embarrassing, wrong? etc. I have a presentation coming up for work and it gives me anxiety too and I only have to be in front of 6 people via Skype! haha. My best advice when chit chatting with others is to ask them questions about themselves. It will help take the focus off of you . That's what I do when I'm anxious. Most people love to talk about themselves.
I agree with you, social phobias are the WORST. When ever I would go to a "small party" with one of my friends it actually turns out to be a crammed, pushy and loud party.
