Virgitiphobia/Fear of being R*ped

Trigger warning!! ⛔ I've had this phobia for a while. I have never endured a successful sexual assault. I should feel thankful. Yet with the news, movies, books, and all different sorts of media, I see it everywhere. And it seems like the numbers are only rising. I have panic attacks nearly daily. Any images I see are ingrained in my brain for weeks. I break down, cry, scream, and think things would be better if I was d**d. I have no idea what to do. My therapist says I need to get over it. My parents say I need to get over it. My boyfriend says I need to get over it. I feel like I am slowly developing a fear of men and I have no idea how to deal with it. Does anyone else deal with this?

@Obsessor13 If your therapist is telling you to get over it, you should find a better therapist, probably specialized in trauma and/or phobias. *hugs*

I also deal with that fear, maybe not to the extent you do though. It's always in my mind when men are near but i don't feel panicked. I just stay cautious as to who else is around so i can make sure I'm never alone with a man i don't know. It's sad that i think every man is capable of harming us women but yea. I also fear being assaulted. I honestly don't trust men at all simply because of that fear. You're definitely not alone.
