my sister who is 11 has been constantly staying up all night which is making her more cranky my parents do not monitor what she looks at and who she talks to which she is allowed to talk to some friends who say some really disturbing things. she has now “threatened “ me not really i think she just says these things because she knows i get a reaction and start getting anxious about them the issue is im not in danger but its my anxiety that makes me think she will do something any tips other than to tell my parents which i already have done.

@veryhotcatgirl Hey :) I'm so sorry to hear that you have to deal with this. I do think you're right and she's doing it because she knows it will make you anxious. It sounds as though her friends are a bad influence and unfortunately it will probably end up getting her into trouble - sometimes though I think that may need to happen. Kind of like a tough love moment. Hopefully your parents will maybe take a more active role in what she's doing before it becomes a really big issue

I think the best you can do is to remind yourself that you're safe and that what she's saying is just to get a reaction. Do things that help you stay grounded and help you relax. You could maybe keep a log of the things that she's saying to you - something that you could show your parents or even recordings so that they can actually hear what she's saying. Then maybe they'll be more open to doing something to make it stop

I’m sorry to hear. I do know how you feel. My little sister and I had an 11year difference, and she would regularly threaten suicide and threaten me and we would regularly physically fight or rough house. I can’t give a definite answer for you, because I don’t know your sister. But my sister did this because, our mother didn’t have much to do with us and her father always reacted to everything negatively. At first I didn’t want anything to do with her until I realized she was alone. She didn’t feel like anyone understood what she was going through. At first I just tried to find things we both liked to do and spend time with her. If there isn’t anything then I would advise to ask if she can show you how to do something she likes to do or talk about things she likes. Every once in a while, make sure to tell her that you love her and want her to know that you are there for her. Also make sure to tell her how you feel about this, be honest and make sure to put it on you, don’t point fingers. It might take a while to build up that connection, that she starts to think of you other than a reaction. For me and my sister, it took a few years but now she constantly calls me mom and if she is doing something that I can’t handle, I can usually shut it down by just asking her to stop.
