TS OKAY TO CRY
Remember this! I know its not the tough, macho thing to do, but to heck with that. A puddle of tears shows you care more than a hole punched through the wall or a dozen plates broken on the floor.
What good is it to keep your problems and your tears bottled up? The sooner we communicate our fears and our bad days, and the sooner we lose our fear to cry, the more quickly we can find the support we need.
Dont be afraid to cry! We all support each other on 7 Cups! π€

I actually hate how easily I can cry. I'm not talking about crying over a movie, because that's never happened to me. But when I'm arguing with my parents I cry for some reason...not out of sadness, it just happens. Or if on a rare occasion, I discuss even just the slightest bit of my anxiety and depression to a stranger (in high school I worked up the nerve to talk to a few teachers to get them to understand why I missed class often), I cry. Even though the emotional feeling people get before crying, isn't there.
But I have come to terms with my sensitivity. I don't llike some of the side factors of sensitivity, but I'm definitely not ashamed of my sensitivity itself. You're right, people shouldn't feel ashamed of crying. It actually takes strength to show tears, because a lot of people are afraid to do it. We all know that hiding isn't exactly a strength.

I have the same prb, i cry way too easily. I know it's okay to cry but i just cry too much too easily and sometimes for minor reasons. I want to get a grip on my emotions, which is why i joined 7cups today. Idk i feel like crying over everything makes me seem like an overemotional baby who can't control her emotions, who can't be talked to, who you can't argue with cuz I'll cry. I just wanna care less and cry less. Any advice?
@Idkwhat
I will usually take a long deep breath when i feel my emotions getting the best of me, calms me down. Thanks for listening!

Welcome to 7Cups! Joining is a great step you've taken.
I am a person that is always in tune with how I feel. I'm a sensitive person. What I've tried, which actually kind of worked: in the moment you know you'll start to cry or start soon, try your best not to focus on yourself or your emotions. For example, I was arguing with my parents and I know what that does to me whenever I do. So, as soon as the argument had started, I did my best to put all of my energy into focusing on how I'll formulate my sentences (thinking about adding big words or poetic sounding lines can make you focus more on what you have to say). Thus, pulling attention away from my emotions, allowing me not to cry or take longer to do so. This, or focus on small things while you feel emtional, ex. your shoulders (are they back, or slouched?), your nails, the way your teeth feel against your tongue. It's weird, but it's worked a bit for me.
It's hard, but it's the best I could come up with so far. Basically, we just have to remove ourself from getting stuck in our own head, in the wrong ways. I hope the both of us can find a solid solution.
Take care.
