Alone? College Anxiety

My anxiety lately has been extremely severe and I've been struggling with anxiety attacks and panic attacks nearly everyday. Last night something went down and summed up, I lost all my friends here at college which triggered a horrible panic attack. Coming back this semester they didn't really invite me to hang out anyways which didn't help my anxiety become less severe, it actually heightened it. I guess losing all of them means I don't have to worry about losing the connections when I transfer schools after this semester, but it still hurts and i haven't gotten over the anxiety stemming from this problem yet especially since one of them is in at least one of my classes all 5 days of the week, and another (the main problem) lives in a suite with me.

I really just wanted to get that out, it took some weight off my chest albeit not a lot since today's friday and so there is class...

Your name, "patient," reveals where you are at. I am so sorry you are going through this and feeling alone. My daughter has been through this so many times. People come and go and she has gotten to the point where someone she has been hanging out with often will all of a sudden block her on social media and she has no idea why. She tells me that she is done trying to find out because that just creates more drama and it is not worth it to her any longer. She tells me that if they were mature, they would come to her and talk to her about what was bothering them and if they cannot do that, she would rather them not be in her life.

I also have a 21 year old son who is in his 4th year of college. He went off to school thinking he would meet new and interesting people only to find out that he was alone often. He also had the roommate from hell the first year that set such a bad tone he almost failed out of school. We were able to move him out of that dorm room to another, but it wasn't pleasant at all. Over the years he has learned to deal with his anxiety and for the last few semesters he found there was group therapy sessions at his school. Initially, he was resistant to counseling, but the group was a good fit. He was able to see that everyone had these same problems and discussing it helped.

Perhaps your school has group sessions. If not, they may have individual sessions which could be helpful too. We all need someone to listen and validate what we are going through. Are you far from home? Do you have a parent who will listen? Please let us know how you are doing. I'm glad you put it out there. That is the first step.
