Arrogance, Fear and School

Hi everyone,

I don't want to call it social anxiety because we don't stan self diagnosis but essentially, what's worrying me the most is the way I talk with other people in school. I'm constantly thinking about if I'm boring them, if I sound uninterested, if I'm saying the wrong things in the wrong tone, if my face/body is looking weird, if they think I'm being annoying etc etc. Very rarely, these instances do not happen and I feel almost ecstatic at the prospect of talking with people, but like I said, these moments are rare. This was always a worry of mine from a young age, but it has gradually escalated over the new school year, as I'm in a new college with lots of new people, which lead me to here. I can't help but feel like people may be talking about me and how boring/annoying/awkward I am. Both my sister and one of my friends have both commented on it before, how I'm super awkward in some situations and although I know they didn't mean to hurt my feelings, it did.

This also translates over to arrogance. Basically, I have always been good at my studies, and though I consciously know that this does not make me better than somebody in ANY WAY, my brain doesn't seem to register this! I'm constantly worried if I'm accidentally being condescending towards somebody and I don't think it's in my head, I genuinely believe I am sometimes too arrogant.

Any advice would be appreciated. I've run out of room so I'll leave it here.

Also, I'm aware that I don't sound too worried in the post but this is genuinely tearing at my self esteem so much. I'm on the verge of tears right now because I don't know what to do. It's killing me and probably any potential friendships.

@coinpolice

You care to much. Seriously, we all ask ourselves questions, and check our progress as we ate in any situation. Your smart and thats good. You should be proud. You are surrounded by competitive people who admire smartness.

Stop distracting the subject at hand by this overprocessing...that would be smart 🙄

@coinpolice It's admirable that you are aware of yourself and that you care about how others view you in the sense, you don't want to hurt their feelings or be too arrogant. Some people lack this awareness and go around hurting others, so as long as you are aware and willing to work on yourself that is enough. Though, none of us can solve your issues, we do support you. This issue is not uncommon, I myself am still learning how to effectively communicate with others, so it's a process but the more you do it, the better.And if you feel like you upset someone, that's okay. We all do at times and usually an apology is enough. More importantly, forgive and accept yourself, you don't need to prove yourself to anyone or any of us when talking. It's a learning process so no rush and take it easy :)
