Buspar?
Hi everyone,
I’ve recently been diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder. I had my first panic attack last month and it’s just been downhill since then. I’ve been doing so many things to get better (clean diet, exercise, hypnosis, accupuncture, etc.) yet every time I go out anywhere I start getting chest pain, heart racing and shortness of breath. I just can’t handle it anymore, I’ve tried antidepressants last month but I reacted really badly to them (burning joints and such). My psychiatrist is starting me on Buspar this week, I’m scared but at the same time I’m so anxious to find some relief from these awful physical symptoms. Has anyone else struggled with finding the right medication? I hate how long it takes to work. Why is everything so hard

Dear friend @newtothis2021.
I just need to say God bless you.
With love from Helga.
How has it been since you started the Buspar? My doctor prescribed it to me also and I took for two days. I had such a horrible headache that I stopped taking it. Hope it helped you!
Hi!
I am brand new here too and not at all sure how all this works. I’m really happy to find this thread though. Just really need to at least make a connection with people or peoples who get it. As far as Buspar, I was on a verrrry low dosage for a little over a year and tbh don’t know if it really did anything to help me personally. I didn’t really suffer any side effects, but again, I didn’t really feel anything. I am on another antidepressant as well that helps with depression, but am struggling hard with anxiety. I was recently rx’d Gabapentin for anxiety and helped so much initially in spite of some stupid side effects getting used to it. I felt a clam and peace I may have never really felt before as my anx went into hibernation. Then a few days ago I started to feel this knot in my stomach and the nausea came pretty soon after. By Friday night, I was in full panic attach mode and haven’t really slept much since. That is a long and personal way to say I am totally feeling the medication dance right now and frankly it’s got ma about as nervous as everything else. I am really hearing you about everything being hard.
This medicine is very helpful to me. I only take it as needed. So maybe a couple times a week. Like 2 or 3 days in a row. And I take 5 mg in the morning and at night. What I noticed about this medicine is it disconnects my head from my stomach. With my anxiety.. when I think something in my head it gives me like an anxious stomach. And this medicine disconnects that for me... I like Buspar.

I feel for you as I also experienced the same physical anxiety you have a few years ago. Additionally, the same route was taken with my physician and he placed me on Buspar. Everyone is different as to how they react to medications. What I found works best for me is working out at the gym - especially cardio (treadmill for me). I do this for about 30 minutes several times a week. At this point, I do not have a need for Buspar (or any meds) and am once again living panic-free! I wish you the best as I know how it can impact your day-to-day living. For me I tell people, see how cardio works for you. You may be surprised.
