Butterflies in Stomach
I've been experiencing butterflies in my stomach for the past three days now. For context, when I was super young, I got a really bad stomach bug and I've been super sensitive about my stomach/stomach discomfort ever since.
My anxiety caused these butterflies, and the butterflies create more anxiety. A vicious cycle.
The butterflies started earlier this week as work became super stressful (I had to work over the weekend, which almost never happens).
The "butterflies" don't hurt, but they're extremely uncomfortable and almost impossible to ignore. If I'm engrossed enough in work, while also listening to music, they go away (or at least I don't notice them).
However, if I'm not doing anything distracting enough (work or play), they don't go away. This makes going to sleep really tough, not to mention it feels like my heart is racing whenever I lie down in this anxious state.
@loyalSloth3335 Hey :) I allways described mine as something wriggly. They make me feel nauseous. I try to do little things to help calm down before bed. Deep breathing helps and PMR - I have a link here if you'd like to check it out. Visualization can help too if you use it at bedtime. I blow up balloons - sounds weird but I imagine blowing up balloons. The anxiety fills the balloons and I release them and they float away - it helps if you can do the breathing exercise at the same time
If you try these - it's ok if they don't work at first or even at all. Then we just need to try something different that does help :) But I really hope that these will help
hi @loyalsloth
I'm sorry it's been so long since u posted, but I just saw this. Do you want to one-on-one chat? I get that sometimes this stuff can be personal/embarrassing on a public forum if you want to talk
