Can anxiety make your brain see things that aren't there? Like faces in patterns and stuff like that?

Hi all,

I've got a strange issue that I think stems from anxiety or paranoia. I don't hallucinate but I see patterns of the same "face" everywhere I look. It's not a humanoid face it looks more like a mask and I know it is not actually there because that would be insane. However, I can't make it go away. I believe the best way to describe it is with the term "facial pareidolia" which according to wikipedia means "the tendency to interpret a vague stimulus as something known to the observer." Like seeing the a face in the moon or something like that. However, I see the same face everywhere I look and its kind of disturbing? Now heres the even stranger part.. It can see me? Like it has a personality and thoughts and it sorta judges me? I feel the need to impress it and I'm constantly self aware of what i'm thinking and of what I'm doing because it can read my thoughts. I know this sounds crazy bonkers but I've been dealing with this problem for about 2 years now and I can't seem to make it go away. It appears as patterns in my floor, walls, desk, clothing, the clouds, etc. There really is no escape from this guy! I don't know if like my brain is just trying to interpret information constantly as a result of anxiety/paranoia and has lead me to see things that aren't actually there or what. It's just been really awful to deal with and I'm not sure what to do. I honestly just hope that someone else is dealing with the same thing and can reassure me that I'm not crazy or tell me what they did to get better. I feel like i'm being stared at 24/7 and it makes conversing with people a lot harder because I can't help but look at the little face I see and sometimes it appears on people's clothes! I miss the feeling of being alone so so much but I'm stuck with this "presence" all of the time. Thank you for reading my wall of text, haha. I hope I articulated my point well enough!
