Confused
Hello, I am zainab. I've been working in a call center for 4 months now and it was my first professional experience ever. I've faced many problems there by being too friendly , naive, trusting people. And I ended up being trapped in a circle of hypocrites behaving like friends. And now , my reputation is going down especially that they use my weak personality to make me look bad in front of everyone. The thing is : I know it's my fault and that I shouldn't have been trusting easily but I want to find a solution especially that I cannot quit and find another job. And what make it worse is my social awkwardness and my lack of ability to make new friends. I dont know what to do to stop being a target! Can anyone help?
@zanoubia999 Hello Zainab. I love your name. I was close friends with a Zainab in grade school and she was so kind and trusting too. I think that's the reason we became so close so soon after we met.
I'm sorry that you have found yourself stuck in this situation. It's terrible that these people have treated you this way. I wish I had advice on how to best deal with it but I know I would feel stuck too because of my social anxiety. The best I can offer is to try to keep your distance from the group that have been treating you so poorly. I won't say that you need to run out and get new friends because I know how daunting that task can be for people like us. But I will say to you shouldn't try to find ways to change yourself. Continue being your kind self and soon the other positive people in the call center will notice you and accept you.
I don't think there is a trick to "stop being a target". That seems to be out of our control. The control is unfortunately in the hands of those that choose to attack. All we can do is attempt to fight it off by ignoring them and maybe through kindness. Stooping to their level will only motivate them to keep going.
I wish I could do more for you my friend. Please keep us updated on how you are doing and maybe we can try to brainstorm more solutions if this is still a problem in your daily life. Maybe together we can figure this out.
