Constant anxiety with infrequent full blown panic attacks
I’m reaching out to find other people that can relate. Long story short I’ve had undiagnosed anxiety issues since childhood. Never really put all the pieces until this year and I’m almost 40. Turns out I was using alcohol to cope unconsciously and now that I stop drinking, I am starting to realize how bad my anxiety issue is. I’ve several full blow panic attacks this year. The kind were you can’t breath and you feel like your dying. More recently I have be having episodes of severe anxiety that last several days at a time. I have a prescription for Xanax but I’m too scared of addiction to use it as much as I think I should. It doesn’t help that the pandemic has me isolated as I now have to work from home.
Hi I’m going through something similar. Sorry to hear that you are going through this. Maybe ask your doctor to put you on an antidepressant something like an SSRI which can help with anxiety. I was just recently prescribed Zoloft which I have been on in the past and it did work but this time I had all of the bad side effects when I started it. I do hear that some people don’t experience the side effects so this might be something to consider for you. I’m on my 6th week taking it and my follow up with my doctor is in a few days. I am going to ask to be switched to something else though because I’m not sure it is working for me. My anxiety is getting worse now but I might have to up my dose so we will see
